It appears System of A Down is no closer to producing a new studio album. Frontman Serj Tankian has announced that he is going to reappropriate songs he had planned to use for a new album with the group.
“I have five rock songs that I wanted I do with SOAD but it doesn’t look like that’s gonna work out, so I am finishing those up to release them as a solo EP or possibly as a soundtrack for my film cause they are interrelated,” he said in a newsletter sent out to his fans recently.
Although the members of SOAD had reunited in the studio to work on music for a potential new album, guitarist Daron Malakian revealed that due to creative differences, it won’t happen for a long time.
