Lori Loughlin’s daughter Olivia Jade just broke her silence about the college admissions scandal during an appearance on Red Table Talk—and Sofia Richie is supporting her. The model and daughter of Lionel Richie hopped into Olivia’s Instagram comments, writing “Yes girl!!😍😍 Cant wait for what’s ahead.”

In response, an Instagram user criticized Sofia, commenting “white privilege supporting white privilege” and a clown emoji.
Sofia responded to this in turn, writing “we are all human, who make human mistakes. Life is too short to wish negativity on anyone. Sending you love.”
Olivia’s white privilege was discussed during Red Table Talk, when Adrienne Banfield-Norris explained (via Harper’s Bazaar), “I think for me, it’s like, there is so much violent dehumanization that the Black community has to go through on a daily basis. Right? There is so much devastation particularly this year, 2020, with the pandemic and everything being brought to the table, just how there’s so much inequality and inequity that when you come to the table with something like this, it’s like, ‘Child, please!'”
She continued by pointing out that because of Olivia Jade’s white privilege, she will likely be just fine after this scandal (which isn’t everyone’s reality due to systemic racism in the criminal justice system):
“I’m exhausted with everything that we have to deal with as a community, and I just don’t have the energy to put into the fact you lost your endorsements or you’re not in school right now,” Adrienne said. “At the end of the day, you’re going to be okay. Your parents are going to go in, and they’re going to do their 60 days, and they’re going to pay their fine. And you guys will go on, and you’ll be okay, and you will live your life. There are so many of us where that just isn’t going to be our situation. It makes it difficult right now for me to care.”
