Strictly judge Shirley Ballas heartbroken as dad ‘dies suddenly’ aged 83 with ‘so many things left unsaid’

Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas has shared her heartache as her father passed away “suddenly.”

Shirley announced her father’s death in a statement on Instagram in which she sadly wrote there were “so many things left unsaid.”

The 60 year old star shared many pictures of herself and her father together as she wrote: “With sadness and a heavy heart my father George Andrew Rich fondly known as Andy, has passed away suddenly.

“My heart goes out to his wife Liz the love of his life who was with him for over 40 years and to all who knew him.

“It’s hard to find the right words at this moment, my father lost two sons in his lifetime and I hope you can all find each other in the after life.

“So many things left unsaid, RIP Dad you will be missed but not forgotten.”

Shirley received support from fans and celebrities, in the wake of her loss.

One person wrote: “Sending so much love. May he rest in peace. I’m sorry for your loss Shirley xx.”

Another said: “Condolences to you and your family, xx.”

Ore Oduba wrote: “I’m so sorry Shirley. Sending lots of love to you and your family", while Ashley Roberts said: “So sorry for your loss. Sending lots of love.”

Though Shirley shared the news of her father’s death on Instagram on Sunday, it is not known when he passed away.

She recently opened up about how her dog had helped her cope with her father's death.

Speaking to BBC Merseyside’s Tony Snell, she said: “I’m just getting over five weeks of the coronavirus and I've been on my own and Charlie has sat at my feet, snuggled and cuddled and just looked at me.

“I had the passing of my father in the last few days and it’s almost like he knows.
