Cristiano Ronaldo appears set to leave Real Madrid and sign for Juventus this transfer window in a deal worth £88million.
The Serie A giants have agreed personal terms with Ronaldo, and if the transfer is completed, Sky Italia claim the 33-year-old will be unveiled at the Juventus Stadium in Turin on Saturday.
Ronaldo will be "eternally grateful" to Real Madrid if he decides to call time on his nine-year stay with the European champions, according to his agent Jorge Mendes.
But it seems the Portugal forward, who recently represented his nation in this summer’s World Cup in Russia, is ready to move on and leave Real Madrid after nines years at the club.
News of Ronaldo’s apparent determination to leave Los Blancos has sent shockwaves around the club’s huge fanbase.
Ronaldo has previously been linked with moves away, but nothing has ever materialised.
So why does the Portuguese star want to leave the club he has won the Champions League with a whopping four times?
According to Spanish publication Marca, there are in fact two reasons.
The paper claims that the 33-year-old’s relationship with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is on its last legs.
In contrast to this Ronaldo has already forged a friendship with Juventus chief Andrea Agnelli, and has spoken to him up to 28 times on the phone.
The second reason is all to do with the fans. The paper reports that Ronaldo was impressed by the way in which they treated him.
It also claims that the Portuguese was impressed with the size of Juventus Stadium.
