Two System Of A Down Members Hit The Studio Together

System Of A Down drummer John Dolmayan revealed in a recent Instagram post that he and Shavo Odadjian, the band’s bassist, have connected in the recording studio.

“Great song ideas flowing from a very strong song writer . Stay tuned,” Dolmayan captioned the photo.

In the photo, Odajian is seen playing the guitar, instead of bass, which has lead to fans speculating that the duo may be collaborating on his solo project, dubbed “These Grey Men.” Announced back in 2014, the project was advertised on Kickstarter to be funded by generous fans, who were promised a covers album.

In an interview with Rolling Stone last December, the band’s vocalist, Serj Tankian spoke about the issues the band has been having working on new material, saying “…we still haven’t come eye to eye on how things should be done for us to be able to move forward with it. And that’s where it’s been.”

The band has not produced any new music since the release of Hypnotize back in 2005, although they embarked on a cross-country a reunion tour in 2011.
