Who is Johnny Depp's legal team in the Amber Heard trial?

Johnny Depp’s defamation trial has continued after a brief break, with Amber Heard currently on the stand.

His lawyer, Camille Vasquez, has been questioning the 36-year-old during a tense cross-examination, over her allegations that the Pirates of the Caribbean actor had been abusing her during their relationship.

The case began last month and is being heard at the Fairfax County Courthouse, and also being streamed live on YouTube on various channels.

A biography on the Brown Rudnick website reads: ‘Camille Vasquez is an associate in the Firm’s Litigation & Arbitration Practice Group.

‘Her current practice focuses on plaintiff-side defamation suits, with additional experience litigating contract disputes, business-related torts, and employment-related claims.

On Heard’s team is attorney Elaine Bredehoft, who is reportedly ‘consistently recognized as one of the top lawyers in Virgina, Washington and Baltimore’.

Heard has also hired Woods Rogers to represent her in the case, including Ben Rottenborn – who has ‘extensive experience representing clients in complex civil litigation matters involving issues’.

A biography for Rottenborn on the Woods Rogers site reads: ‘As a litigator, Ben practices at both the trial and appellate levels in federal and state courts around the country.’

Before joining the firm in 2012, he was a partner in the Chicago office of international law firm Kirkland & Ellis LLP.

Depp is suing Heard for defamation after she penned a 2018 op-ed in the Washington Post, discussing her experiences of domestic violence – which did not name the Hollywood star.

His team have argued that it implied that he was physically and sexually violent towards her, something he had denied.

He previously took the stand when the case began last month, and insisted that he has never struck a woman.

The trial continues.
