Athlete Dee-Ann Kentish-Rogers is the first black woman to be crowned Miss Universe Great Britain in 66 years

Dee-Ann Kentish-Rogers, who lives in Birmingham, is a heptathlete and recently passed her law exams.

The 25-year-old, who’s from the British overseas territory of Anguilla, is now set to travel to the Philippines in December hoping to win the overall Miss Universe title.

She said she felt humbled to win the British title and told BBC Newsbeat: “As it got closer to the competition, I started to feel the magnitude of what this could mean if I were to get the crown, not just for black women, but for Great Britain as a whole.”
