I’m a foodie & figured out how to store food in my freezer AND have perfectly sized portions – I never have to rummage | The Sun

DO you find that you never have enough room in your freezer and are always left rummaging to try to get to an item that’s packed tightly at the bottom?

It doesn’t have to be that way, as foodies have shared their top tip on how to make this a thing of the past.

And thanks to home organising company horderly – who revealed the hack on their social media profile – you can also ensure you have perfect sized portions when you do want to use the ingredients.

That’s because the brand, which can be found on TikTok at @horderly, has figured out a quick and easy way to split and store food items, while still saving space.

In a video posted to their profile titled ‘space saving freezer hacks,’ they showed exactly how it was done.

They explained: “Today we are sharing one of our favourite time and space saving freezer hacks.”

Horderly added that it worked well on “ground meats, tomato paste and garlic.”

First, they thoroughly cleaned their kitchen surface, before demonstrating how it was done on mince, or a meat-free alternative.

They explained: “For ground meat, including vegetarian ground, use Ziploc bags flipped inside out, in order to grab the meat into the bag.

“Smooth and roll it out into a thin layer, seal and label your bag with a Sharpie.”

The next step was the game-changer, as horderly told their 35k followers to take a piece of cutlery.

As they divided the meat up into sections, they explained: “Take the back of a butter knife and gently score.

“You can use the same process for ground beef and turkey, scoring the meat will make it easier to remove individual portions.”

A similar method can also be used when trying to save space storing cans when you don’t need to use the whole lot.

Horderly again showed this in action, as they opened a tin of tomato paste.

They continued: “Repeat the same process, scoring to pre-portion and freezing to prevent mould.”

But they had one more kitchen hack up their sleeves.

They added: “Tired of chopping garlic? Try buying in bulk, blending, bagging and freezing to create pre-portioned, ready to go chopped garlic.”

The brand then moved onto their final piece of advice, as they concluded: “Once frozen, you can bend along on the indentations you created to further separate your portions, making it easier to tuck into freezer bins.”

And social media followers were keen to follow suit and start using the hacks straight away.

One said: “Fantastic idea, THANK YOU.”

A second commented: “Yes! I use ice trays to store sofrito in perfect cooking portions.”
