But one plus-sized woman says she has managed to find the "perfect" outfit to impress her man when they celebrate.
Fashionista Leah Ryder shared a TikTok video to inspire loved-up social media users in the wardrobe department.
She managed to put together a stunning look for her "impromptu" dinner date with her husband at the last minute.
The curvy content creator wowed the internet with her extraordinary style choices in the clip that racked up almost 10,000 views.
Detailing her glam process, Leah first began by grabbing a "really lovely" cream sweater dress from Amazon.
She told viewers: "It's super fuzzy and soft, I love it so much!
"Even though it is Valentine's Day weekend we were not planning on going out to dinner, so hopefully, we can get in somewhere because we do not have a reservation."
After getting her base sorted, the TikToker then moved on to accessorizing her outfit for her romantic date.

She continued: "I'm going to try and make this semi Valentines Day appropriate so we have to wear these earrings."
Leah then shows her followers the cute pieces of pink jewelry, gushing over the pair of vibrant dangling earrings.
She added: "Yea, these are definitely perfect for the occasion!"
Despite wanting to wow her fella, the plus-sized fashion guru wasn't going to put herself through wearing sky-high heels.
Instead, she opted for a gorgeous pair of gold double-strapped shoes to add a touch of sparkle to her attire.
Leah explained: "I'm gonna go with these heels because they are tried and true and very comfy.
"I don't know if the open-toe heels look kinda stupid with the sweater dress – but we're going with it anyway."
She had saved the best until last, instantly elevating her outfit by adding a sensational pink houndstooth patterned jacket from Impressions Boutique.
The TikToker beamed: "I love this coat so much and I feel like it's going to be the perfect layer to complete the look.
"How cute is that?"
She finished off her fit with the trendy $4,100 Twist MM Chain Bag from Louis Vuitton in the color Rose Blossom.
Leah said: "I'm going to carry this purse because it matches the shoes perfectly and of course – it's pink!"
Her followers were amazed by her ability to put together budget buys with luxury items for her last-minute date.
One wrote: "Love love love that look! I need that coat!"
