‘It’s the lighting’ – Kate Middleton’s McQueen suit divides royal fans

Kate Middleton, 40, stunned in her first outfit in Boston as she landed at Boston Logan International Airport in Massachusetts. However, royal fans cannot decide whether the suit was navy or purple in colour.

It was first reported that the Princess of Wales wore the Alexander McQueen “Peak Shoulder Leaf Crepe Jacket in Navy and Matching Trousers” by the Instagram account @royalfashionpolice.

However, due to the ongoing debate amongst royal fans about the colour of Kate’s suit, they later posted that she could in fact be wearing the Alexander McQueen “Leaf Crepe Jacket in Amethyst” paired with the “High-waisted Cigarette Trousers in Amethyst” from the same brand.

Royal fan @KateMiddStyle tweeted the following: “Debate of the day…. is Kate’s suit navy or purple?” One fan, @dataduchess2 replied saying: “I think navy and it’s just the lighting.”

However, @Shannonlea74H added: “Maybe midnight blue that looks more purple when paired with a contrasting shade of navy?”

But @Emma4AboutRoyal was adamant, tweeting: “Purple! The jumper is navy.. and the shoes.”

Royal fashion expert @Remisagoodboy posted: “We are all confused by the colour of Catherine’s suit. But traditionally she wears at least one colour from the host country’s flag.

“So for now, we are sticking with navy blue.” Kate paired the suit with her Gianvito Rossi “Gianvito 105 Navy Suede Pumps”, which sell for £595 from Net-A-Porter.

The description says: “The elegantly feminine Gianvito 105 is Gianvito Rossi’s signature pump design. The pointed toe and 105 mm stiletto heel create a sleek and pure form that can be worn with any outfit from formal dresses to skinny trousers.

“This version in soft, deep black suede subtly softens its lines for ultimate comfort.”

To accessorise, she wore a pair of Princess Diana’s Sapphire Earrings that she first debuted at Trooping The Colour during the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Royal fan @aminakureshi tweeted: “Always flawless and tailored to perfection.”

Another fan, @joanna.maniati added: “I love this look whatever the colour is! She is so beautiful!”

As the Earthshot Awards champion sustainability, the Princess of Wales is unlikely to wear any new garments, particularly expensive ones.

Royal watcher @haley_deanna agreed, saying: “Because it’s an earth-related event I’m not expecting many new items.”

Another fan, @lescarletwoman wrote: “She looks absolutely flawless. Gorgeous earrings as well.”

Some fans thought that the colour of the suit might even be aubergine, as opposed to navy or purple.

Royal watcher @clairenube clarified: “It’s 1,000 percent aubergine! Compare it with Prince William’s suit that is actually navy!”

One fan @mamakayleykeanu commented: “Oh my God, the Princess of Wales looks so elegant, classy and beautiful.”

Another royal watcher, @jencutrerpartyofsix added: “The cut of this suit is perfect. Personally, I love wide-leg pants, but she looks best in a slim cut.”

Finally, one fan, @sueschnabolk, summed up what most people were saying by simply writing: “Awesome outfit.”
