Bethan Holt, the author of ‘The Duchess of Cambridge – A Decade of Modern Royal Style’ appeared on This Morning with Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford to give advice on where to get dupes of Kate Middleton’s style. Eamonn was quick to praise the Duchess, claiming she “rarely gets it wrong” in terms of her style.
Bethan said: “She’s a total style icon for 10 years now. I think women around the world are just loving what she wears, and she just keeps getting better!”
She insisted that women should not feel intimidated by Kate’s slim figure, because “she does wear some really accessible shapes and that’s what we want to talk about today, how any woman no matter what your age or size can get Kate’s style as well.”
Kate has begun to wear colour block dresses recently, which Bethan asserts is a trick she learned from the Queen, to dress completely in one colour in order to get the most attention.
The Duchess wore a bright green Emilia Wickstead dress at Wimbledon which cost a staggering £800.
However, Bethan informed the viewers that Karen Miller are currently selling a dupe for £111.20, and is a dress you can get so much use out of.
“Kate does that with her clothes as well, she just wears them again and again. This dress has a lovely belt, cinches you in the sleeves, and is very demure and very regal,” Bethan added.
To emulate the Duchess’s Victoria Beckham bag, there is a perfect dupe from Katie Loxton for only £59.99 as well as cream chic shoes from River Island for just £55.
Bethan spoke about Kate Middleton’s shoe style evolution, saying: “Kate at the beginning of her royal career, she was really known for that sort of nude shoe.
“But she’s got into these more white cream ones now, which just look that little bit more modern and a little bit more sophisticated.”
Bethan also described her off-duty denim looks, where the Duchess recently wore straight-leg jeans and a blazer.
Kate’s blazer was from Chloe and cost £1,795, but also owns a collection of Zara Blazers.
Bethan’s dupe for the Chloe blazer is from Zara and is a candy floss pink colour which would look perfect with straight leg jeans.
Bethan added: “Kate is really known for skinny jeans, but she’s updated recently with a straight leg and I think that’s something we can all do.
“We all love living in our skinny jeans but it’s just that slightly more modern contemporary update and it’s really flattering on all shapes.
“In fact, I actually think they’re slightly more flattering than a skinny!”
Bethan also discussed Kate’s sunglasses at Wimbledon when the Duchess sported her Ray-Bans which cost £140. However, there are dupes from New Look for under £20.
According to Bethan, Kate Middleton has been swapping her clutch bags for top handle bags.
These can also be purchased from New Look for just £15.99, to achieve that stunning regal look.
The hosts and Bethan discussed another “classic Kate style” – her love of floral dresses with espadrille wedges.
These beautiful shoes can be purchased from Monsoon for £31.50, which according to Bethan are a “brilliant alternative to high heels if you’ve got an occasion or a long day ahead, as they won’t sink into the grass.”
