Nike‘s VaporMax line has pushed the boundaries of hybrid running/casual footwear since its inception in 2017, and the new VaporMax 2020 continues that ethos of advancement in an undeniable fashion. It’s sustainable in build, stylish in look and potent in performance, and now it’s surfaced in a fresh “Iron Grey” makeup that’s equal parts mild and wild.
The “mild” half of that dual-sided equation is handled by the upper’s dark grey Flyknit base and white Swooshes plus the midsole’s crystal clear VaporMax cushioning unit. The rest of the shoe’s pieces make up the “wild” half, weaving multi-colored threads across toeboxes and quarters, proffering printed details on the tongue, adding marbled yellows and oranges to the heel and toe and using recycled rubber for color on the outsole. Orange insoles with a Nike Sportswear-style sunburst graphic add a hidden pop of flair.
From a fit standpoint, a FlyEase system replaces standard laces. This is split into two parts: a green winch system over the throat is tightened by yanking on the heel’s fabric straps — denotaed with a “Lock” text hit — and loosened by yanking an orange “Release” tag on the tongue. At least 50% of the VaporMax 2020’s build is made of recycled material as well, making it one of the Swoosh’s more eco-friendly styles.
The Nike VaporMax 2020 “Iron Grey” is set to release via the Nike webstore in the coming weeks. The MSRP is set at $250 USD.
