Princess Eugenie announced her engagement to Jack Brooksbank in early 2018, and a star-studded wedding at St George’s Chapel, Windsor followed a few months later. Royal fans were delighted by Eugenie’s stunning engagement ring, which features a striking padparadscha sapphire.
Comparisons have been drawn between Eugenie’s engagement ring and the ring Prince Andrew gave Sarah Ferguson in the 1980s.
Daena Borrowman, Marketing Manager at jewellerybox, told Express.co.uk: “Her [Eugenie’s] fiance, Jack Brooksbank, chose the pink-tinted orange gem because it appears to change colour depending on the angle and light it is subject to, a stone as dynamic as the Princess who wears it.
“It also bears a close resemblance to the engagement ring that Princess Eugenie’s father, Prince Andrew, gave her mum, Sarah Ferguson.”
Sarah Ferguson’s engagement ring from Prince Andrew features an oval Burmese ruby surrounded by ten diamonds.
The gems are arranged in a flower pattern and rest on a yellow gold band.
Although in many pictures Eugenie’s engagement ring looks pink, the colour of the gem changes depending on the lighting.
As well as holding incredible sentimental value for Eugenie and Jack, the ring is also worth a staggering value.
Alexandra Michell, of Prestige Pawnbrokers of Channel 4’s Posh Pawn, told Express.co.uk: “Like her mother, the Duchess of York and her aunt, Princess Diana, Eugenie’s ring has a centre oval precious gemstone and this one certainly has not disappointed.
“It is a padparadscha sapphire surrounded by ten brilliant-cut diamonds and two pear cut diamonds to give an edge to the standard classic cluster.
“Padparadscha is the name given to the corundum gem that bears a mixture of red and yellow, a sort of cross between a ruby and yellow sapphire.
“This beautiful gem is considered amongst the rarest and most valuable of all the corundum varieties.
“With its carefully faceted cut and the set off with the whitest of white diamonds, this ring could easily be worth over £100,000.”

Although there are similarities between Sarah and Eugenie’s engagement rings, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi opted for a totally different design for Princess Beatrice’s engagement ring.
Lorna Haddon, head of diamonds and jewellery at Beaverbrooks, said: “Beatrice’s fiancé Edoardo (now husband) wowed us back in 2019 with this stunning platinum diamond engagement ring, with its large central diamond framed by tapered baguette-cut diamonds.
“With similarities to Queen Elizabeth’s ring, a solitaire diamond ring is a classic choice, offering a timeless finish with plenty of dazzling sparkle.
“Beatrice’s ring is estimated to be worth between £250,000 and £300,000.”
Beatrice’s ring draws comparisons to the Queen’s engagement ring from Prince Philip.
Like Edoardo with Beatrice’s ring, Philip also helped to design the engagement ring he gave to the Queen.
Poignantly, the Queen’s engagement ring features diamonds from a tiara that belonged to Philip’s mother, Princess Alice.
