Queen's priceless reaction when Charles called her 'mummy' – as prince uses affectionate nickname for mum on her jubilee

THE Queen's notorious sense of humour shone through as she reacted to Prince Charles calling her "mummy" before he again used the affectionate term on her Platinum Jubilee.

Charles, 73, took to the stage last night at the star-studded Party at the Palace and poured his heart out in an emotional tribute to "Your Majesty, Mummy".

The heir to the throne hailed the monarch, 96, for being with Brits "in our difficult times" as she enjoys a four-day celebration for her Platinum Jubliee – marking a stellar 70-years on the throne.

Millions of viewers watching from home were deeply moved as he said: "You have met us and talked with us.

"You laugh and cry with us and, most importantly, you have been there for us."

Directly addressing the monarch as "Your Majesty, Mummy", he said: "The scale of this evening’s celebration – and the outpouring of warmth and affection over this whole Jubilee weekend – is our way of saying thank you – from your family, the country, the Commonwealth, in fact the whole world.

"On behalf of us all, I wanted to pay my own tribute to your lifetime of selfless service.

"Your family now spans four generations. You are our Head of State. And you are also our mother."

The Queen watched on from home as her eldest son addressed the nation – but she was by his side when he previously publicly referred to her as "mummy".

Back in 2018, members of the Firm gathered at the Royal Albert Hall for her 92nd birthday celebration.
