The Queen is not in attendance at this year’s service as she has sprained her back, Buckingham Palace confirmed this morning. Her son, Prince Charles, lay the wreath on the Cenotaph on her behalf.

Most of the royals, as well as government officials, wore black for today’s event as a mark of respect.

Sophie Wessex wore an all-black coat dress and a matching hat.

The coat featured a prominent collar and gold buttons, while the hat was in a beret style with a large bow on its top.

The Duchess has worn this exact outfit before, most notably for the reburial service of the remains of King Richard III in Leicester Cathedral in 2015.
