More than six in ten British women have never checked for potentially harmful chemicals which could be lurking in their everyday beauty products, according to new research from Holland and Barrett .
Worryingly the new report shows we are far more concerned with what we ingest than what we put onto our faces and bodies everyday – even though it can be just as dangerous to our health.
The survey showed only 38 per cent of women have ever checked the ingredients of their make-up and beauty products, but in contrast 88 per cent routinely analyse the ingredients of the food and drinks they buy.
However, the high street health store is leading the charge with their new Cleaner Beauty commitment , by only stocking items that are free from harmful ingredients.
Lucy Pottinger, Holland & Barrett’s Head of Beauty comments, “As the UK’s biggest natural-beauty retailer we are committed to making the category clear and transparent.
“Our Cleaner Beauty commitment means that all beauty products sold in our stores and online are free from parabens and sodium lauryl sulphate. A fact that no other high street retailer can say.”
“We hope that these findings make people think twice about the products they are putting on their bodies, and look for more natural, chemical-free alternatives”
So if you’re keen to rid your bathroom cabinet of ‘bad’ products that come filled with harmful ingredients, why not start with swapping out your classic deodorant with one of these all natural versions? (And yes they do work and they are not as expensive as you think).
