Woman exposes variety in Primark sizing after trying on five size 12 shorts and them ALL fitting differently

CALLING OUT the Irish version of Primark has faced backlash this week after being called out for their lack of consistency in their sizing.

One woman went to document the difference in size in five pairs of shorts from Primark and showed how each was different in how it fit.

Taking to her TikTok channel, Chelsea Farrell, who was crowned Miss Ireland in 2019, said the sizing differences can cause people to feel insecure about their weight if their usual size doesn't fit.

Chelsea said: "I just wanted to come on and talk to you about something that my man has noticed that I think is absolutely disgusting."

Showing five pairs of shorts stacked she says: "As you can see every pair of shorts here is a size 12 from Penneys (Irish Primark)."

She shows how the first four pairs are all denim shorts, with each having "mid-rise" printed on the label.

"All the exact same one, all in a size 12, and this one at the back are one from last year," Chelsea said.

Zooming out and showing the size difference she added: "Now can Penneys please explain to me why all of the size 12's are different."

Alongside the video, she wrote: "The one's at the back(the largest pair) is my mam's pair from last year, she is a size 12 so they are true to size."

She added: "Look at the size difference between each pair! But they are all apparently size 12?"

Chelsea points out how she measured the pairs against each other and why it bothers her that the retail outlet does this.

"These are a size 12(pointing at the shorts in the back) and these are all the exact same pair of shorts in a "size 12" (as she makes air quotes) but yet there's a massive difference between them all, that is not, fair" she says.

Adding in the caption: "This is so unfair, people who were a size 12 in last year in Penney's shorts now can't get them over their knees and think they've put on weight."

The woman goes on to explain that this is an issue because people will question the weight they have put on if a size they wore last year no longer fits.

"The problem with this is people who were a size eight in Penney's last year, are now a size 12 or 14 in Penneys feel like they've put on weight and it's given them a weight complex," she said.

Adding the caption: "Penneys need to do better if you shop in Penneys do not let their sizes impact you or make you feel like (poo emoji). Because they are all over the place."

A spokeswoman from Penneys told Dublin Live: "Everyone is welcome at Penneys which is reflected in the broad size ranges we offer. Consistency of fit matters as much to us as it does to our customers.

"We are always working with both our suppliers and technologists in our quality team to track and improve this.

"We continue to fit our designs using Size UK data as standard but always encourage customers to get in touch with us if they have concerns about sizing and we will happily look into their query.”
