Aldi is known for its incredible deals and efficiency.

Whether it's a Specialbuys promotion or a fast checkout service, the German retailer is great for keeping customers happy.

It also aims to design all of its stores in the same layout, so shoppers aren't baffled by each branch they visit.

Now if you're wondering why Aldi is great for those things, here are six employee secrets you probably didn't already know.

From deals to speedy checkout services, ex-staff members and Aldi's communications director Richard Thornton have revealed all.

You're also probably thinking about employee perks and benefits… That's been answered too.

The deals are usually sold on a first come, first served basis, so they don't often last too long.

But shoppers say to make sure you don't miss out, you can download the Aldi UK app to be kept in the loop.

Customers claim it informs shoppers of all the bits that are on offer and you could even choose to receive notifications too.

Consistent layouts

Did you know Aldi supermarkets are all designed to have a similar layout? Smart right?

It means even if you walk into another branch, you won't spend too much time looking for things.

Shoppers also revealed that knowing the layout helps them write lists in the order they would find them in.

Quick checkouts

This one isn't much of a secret as Aldi takes pride in its speedy checkout service.

The supermarket claims the process takes 40% less time than its rivals.

One of the reasons is because of the store's packaging which are all designed with multiple barcodes to make them easier to scan.

No staff discounts

The supermarket doesn't give discounts to its workers.

But it does offer the market leading rates for pay and benefits.

Those working at Aldi will be given a healthy pension, training programmes and discounts at cinemas and gyms.

Simple promotions

If you're a regular shopper at Aldi you will have noticed there's no "buy one get one free" promotions.

Instead of those kind of deals, the supermarket aims to offer low prices every day that are easy to understand.

And it has no plans to introduce those kind of offers either.

Staff communication

You might not have noticed this, but Aldi staff members have a secret way of talking to each other.

The workers wear headsets so they're able to communicate with one another.

Previously, one employee revealed how the best thing about Aldi is the genuine opportunity for career progression.
