Cardi B: ‘I don’t want to show my baby to the public right now’
While accepting the award for favorite rap/hip-hop artist, Cardi B says she had to prove to people that she could make it after having a baby.
New mom Cardi B got real about childbirth and motherhood when she stopped by “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Wednesday. Not only is adjusting to motherhood in the limelight a challenge, she said, but giving birth baby Kulture hurt way more than she expected.
“I don’t want to show my baby out to the public right now,” the “Bodak Yellow” rapper told Kimmel. “I just want to protect her. I’m not mentally ready, so it’s just like paparazzi be everywhere, even in my (expletive).”
She added, “I would like to do normal things with my baby, but right now I gotta keep it very low-key,” she said.
As for those normal activities, she said, “I want to go to the beach with my baby, I want to take a stroll down the street with my baby, and I can’t because I don’t know who’s next to me and who has certain intentions.”

And then there was the physical impact of giving birth, which Cardi B admitted she wasn’t quite prepared for.
When Kimmel asked her if giving birth was easier or harder than she thought it would be, she confessed that it was “totally harder” and said that baby Kulture “broke” her.
“Nobody told me they were going to stitch my vagina,” she said. “People just be like ‘Oh, you know when you give birth, it’s going to hurt,’ but nobody tells you.”

The delivery room was packed to welcome daughter Kulture when Cardi gave birth. Husband Offset, sister Hennessy Carolina, her publicist, her parents and mother-in-law were all on hand for the arrival of the baby.
Pain and paparazzi aside, Cardi told Kimmel that she loves being a mom.
“It’s the best,” she said. “It’s like ‘Oh my gosh, should have had you when I was a teenager! This is what I’ve been missing my whole life? I love you.’ “
Not as great for the 26-year-old mom? Kulture already has Cardi’s “feisty” attitude. “I be like ‘Oh snap, I already see it coming,’ ” she said, joking that the three-month-old is “very demanding.”
