Charlotte Dawson’s new hair is a shining example of the summer blonde colour trend

Charlotte Dawson switches between brunette and blonde hair so seamlessly that her grid looks like one blended balayage. Now, she’s debuting a fresh colour for the summer months – an expensive, warm blonde.

The 29 year old is wearing a version of moneypiece accents, which saw celebs in 2021 favour bright front sections of blonde, but Charlotte makes the look more current by taking those light pieces further back and away from her face. She’s also opted for a honey tone of blonde, which is smart considering her natural colour is also warm in tone, so she won’t be fighting to stay ashy.

“After. Obsessed as always, my hair fairies,” Charlotte teases the new look on new Instagram Story uploads.

The former Ex on the Beach star also thanks her hair team from Zest Liverpool hair salon for their help on the transformation, noting that she’s had a fresh set of extensions applied to give her look some extra oomph.

“Tapes rooted for extra colour and thickness,” she adds.

After the years of lockdowns we’ve experienced, we’re now seeing plenty of celebs returning to their hair extensions. Now that salons are indefinitely open and they can have regular upkeep, tapes seem to be the popular choice among the elite. Though they cost quite a lot to maintain, they are perfect, like Charlotte says, for adding thickness to hair.

If you haven't heard of tape hair extensions before, our OK! deputy beauty editor just took adeep dive into finding out all there is to know about these volume-boosting extensions . Mini tapes tend to be the trending type at the moment, so it’s likely Charlotte had these applied too.

What are they, you ask? “They’re around 20% smaller than the traditional tapes, which makes them much less visible on the scalp,” hair extension expert Olja (from The Extensionist salon ) explains. “If you’re looking to boost volume and thickness for an event where you’ll be wearing an updo, the smaller size of these also work better for ponytails and half-up looks.”

Like with regular tapes, these mini versions also come in a mix of longer and shorter lengths to suit the look you’re after, ranging from 14 inches (though, if your hair is shorter this length can be trimmed) all the way up to a lengthy 24 inches.

So, what do you think? Do you love Charlotte’s new look?
