Entrepreneur Alex Wolf on How Fashion Can Inspire Technology of The Future
Aside from her multifaceted career as an actor, musician, producer and (let’s call it as it is) style icon, Janelle Monáe is determined to change the status quo. In partnership with Belvedere Vodka and Harper’s BAZAAR, she sat down with three unique trail blazers who are daring to push the world forward and pave the way for a more beautiful future.
When you imagine the future of technology, you should be championing for women like Alex Wolf. For starters, Wolf is an award-winning entrepreneur and technology philosopher speaker and consultant—meaning, she writes and speaks about the ways the nature of the internet has changed our social and economic environments and how it’s affected us behaviorally.
Not to mention she’s been recognized as a top creative on a slew of high-profile lists, including Fast Company Magazine‘s “Top 100 Most Creative People in Business” and Adweek‘s “Top 20 Influencers Who Radiate Creativity & Get Everyone Talking.” Needless to say, watching her and fellow girl-boss Janelle Monáe in conversation is truly a treat.
Above, see them chat about maintaining authenticity online (Wolf’s secret? “I see the internet as a presence and not a destination,” she shares). Wolf also touches on the importance of “human-friendly” technology that has a touch of the arts and/or emotion, rather than being strictly mechanical.
Lately, Wolf has drawn inspiration from fashion designers, “that alchemy of turning fabric into something that you can publicly express yourself in.” She hopes to encourage people in more technical spaces to see the merit in expressing themselves creatively through the arts. (Something we could all take a cue from).
Check out the whole interview for yourself above, and then join us in raising a glass with Alex and Janelle.
