Fast and Furious Supercharged Ride, Universal Orlando Resorts

Universal Pictures

If you’re anything like us, then you’ve been obsessed with the Fast and the Furious series since it began way back in 2001. The action-packed franchise now has a total of eight installments with two more on the way, as well as a spin-off in the works. The movies heavily focus on illegal street racing and star Vin Diesel and the late Paul Walker.

Over the years, the flicks have become increasingly popular and it’s one of the biggest and highest-earning franchises in movie history. We have to admit that, although street racing is extremely dangerous and highly illegal, they make it look like so much fun in the movies. We would never want to actually be in a real car race on the highway, but thanks to Universal, we can experience the adrenaline rush for ourselves!

In 2015, Fast & Furious: Supercharged opened at Universal Studios Hollywood and let guests be part of an intense car chase between the movies’ characters played by the OG actors! The ride has elements of 3D, CGI and holograms and is truly a one-of-a-kind thrill. Thankfully, the ride finally made its way to the East Coast and we got to attend the opening night party. Don’t worry, we’re going to give you allllll the deets.

The whole park was shut down for this massive party and we got to eat our way through the most delicious BBQ and desserts — they even had pies on sticks! While wandering around, we even spotted tons of VIP guests. Even Henry Danger star Jace Norman showed up to celebrate the new ride!

Just when we thought the night couldn’t get better, Vin Diesel showed up in the most Fast & Furious way possible:

Vin was joined on stage by his co-stars, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster and Tyrese Gibson, who helped officially open the ride and it was even better than we imagined:

After the fireworks subsided, it was finally time to test out the ride! As we walked through the building to the front of the line, there was. So. Much. To look at! The queue for the ride is decked out in car gear and replicas of the cars from the movies, so it really makes you feel like you’re actually in a scene from one of the flicks.

Once you get to the front, Mia Toretto calls in and says that we’re all celebrating Dom’s street race win at Sullivan’s garage and that Tej will take us there. Before we get too far, though, we find out that both the FBI and Owen Shaw are after us. We board the party bus and take off on a wild car chase on the highway. There are hologram projections happening on both sides depicting the scene, all while we’re dodging cars and crashing into things.

The ride as a whole is less than three minutes (merp)… but what it lacks in time, it makes up for in content. This is a simulated indoor ride, so even if you don’t love roller coasters, you should still check it out! Whether you know every The Fast and the Furious movie by heart or you’ve never seen them, this ride is a must-try the next time you’re vacationing at Universal Orlando Resorts!
