Former 007 Pierce Brosnan wants a woman as next James Bond
James Bond has spoken.
When asked about the future of the famed role, former 007 Pierce Brosnan said he thinks a woman should take over after men have played the part for almost half a century.
“I think we’ve watched the guys do it for the last 40 years, get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting.”
Though he doubts the change will happen for some time, he said the future is certainly female.
“The #MeToo movement has been relevant and significant and well needed in our society, so they’ll have to address that,” he added.
It was reported in July that Lashana Lynch will be 007’s successor in the new Bond film.
In 2020’s “No Time to Die,” Bond, played by Daniel Craig, finds out that he’s been replaced by Lynch during his retirement.
Will they team up for a modern take on the films? That remains to be seen. But we do know they will be battling a new villain, played by Rami Malek.
As for Lynch, many know the rising star from her recent role as Maria Rambeau in the 2019 smash hit “Captain Marvel.”
“James Bond: No Time to Die” will be out in April.
