Gemma Collins net worth: TOWIE and Diva Forever star’s earnings skyrocket
Glamorous Gemma Collins, 38, has had to admit that she doesn’t own the fabulous home she showcased on Monday night’s episode of MTV cribs. It was, in fact, a temporary rental while she moved house.
But this isn’t to say that the reality star, known affectionately by the moniker The GC, couldn’t afford such plush surroundings. Not at all. In fact the television queen claims to be worth £5 million after being swamped with lucrative TV offers since rising to fame on The Only Way is Essex.
The former car saleswoman has risen through the ranks of superstardom so much so that she is now thinking of moving to posher neighbourhood and away from Essex.
“I’m currently looking at a property in Knightsbridge and I’m literally speaking to you on the King's Road shopping for furniture,” said the diva to The Sun newspaper.
She then added: “I’ll always be an Essex girl at heart but I’ve matured and I’ve evolved and with my work I’m in the West End all the time, I’m not the TOWIE girl I once was. I’m not that girl anymore.
“I’ve not forgotten where I came from but I’ve grown and I’ve evolved and that is the secret to being a reality star.”
But Gemma’s evolvement is not just skin deep, it is what is underneath that counts too. The star claims to be so wealthy that she wears a brand new pair of Marks & Spencer's underwear daily.
"I should have shares in knickers in Marks & Spencer's. I'm in there all the time, I wear a new pair of knickers every day at the moment,” revealed the star.
Gemma is also unperturbed by cruel comments that come her way.“I take no notice of trolls because my bank balance is growing and growing and growing and growing – they can troll me all they want," she said.
But how has Gemma made such a fortune? Well, the vivacious star has had her fingers in many showbiz pies. Aside from starring in The Only Way is Essex, she has appeared in I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!, Celebrity Big brother, Celebs Go Dating and Dancing on Ice, as well as many panel shows and presenting roles.
The reality TV darling also has two of her own shows, Gemma Collins: Diva España. and the Gemma Collins: Diva Forever. And off screen Gemma hosts her own BBC podcast, has released two book, runs a plus-sized clothing store and has collaborated for a collection with online retail giant Boohoo. It really is no wonder she is raking in the big bucks.
Gemma Collins: Most shocking moments
Confident Gemma feels she has cracked the key to longevity in such a notoriously fickle business. To be fair, it does seem that way. She burst onto our screens in 2011, as a larger-than-life car saleswomen. Ostentatious, mouthy and charming. Yet eight years on she is the standout alumnus of the hit ITV show, still lighting up our television screens nearly a decade later.
So how does she believe she has managed to do it? “The reason why I’ve carried on in this industry for ten years is not because I was on holiday every five minutes,” she said.
“I’m not one of these average reality people that are permanently doing Instagram posts, I break the mould, I break the internet.
"I constantly know that showbiz is going to be short-lived, you have to grab every opportunity as well as you can.”
And that she does- viva la diva, forever!
