George H.W. Bush Sent To Intensive Care

Former President George H.W. Bush has been admitted to intensive care.

According to CNN,  Bush was sent to intensive care yesterday morning. This hospital visit comes less than twenty-four hours after he said goodbye and buried his wife of 73 years, Barbara Bush on Saturday. His late wife’s funeral services were attended by their son, former President George W. Bush and his wife, former first lady Laura Bush, former President Bill Clinton, and his wife former first lady and 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton, former President Barack Obama and his wife, former first lady Michelle Obama as well as current first lady Melania Trump.

“President Bush was admitted to the Houston Methodist Hospital yesterday morning after contracting an infection that spread to his blood. He is responding to treatments and appears to be recovering. We will issue additional updates as events warrant,” spokesman Jim McGrath said in a statement to the media.

The 93-year-old former president contracted an infection which worsened to sepsis, a potentially life-threatening medical situation. To make matters worse, Bush’s blood pressure kept dropping low enough to wear doctors and the medical team had to scramble to stabilize him.

Many years ago, Bush admitted that he suffers from a certain form of Parkinson’s disease which took away his ability to walk. The former president has been using a wheelchair and a scooter for mobility since then. Doctors say that the septic infection combined with low blood pressure is a special kind of risk due to Bush’s advanced age.

A day after the death of his wife and best friend (nicknamed “The Enforcer” for her protective ways for her husband and children), Bush made a small but touching statement. “I always knew Barbara was the most beloved woman in the world, and in fact, I used to tease her that I had a complex relationship about that fact. But the truth is, the outpouring of love and friendship being directed at The Enforcer is lifting us all up,” Bush said. “We have faith she is in heaven, and we know that life will go on—as she would have it. So cross the Bushes off your worry list.”

We at TheRichest wish the former president a speedy recovery!
