Thrifty diners will be thrilled to know that there’s a clever hack to get a quick bite to eat on the high street without spending a penny.
All you need is your phone and a friendly smile to secure your feast at chains such as KFC, All Bar One, Krispy Kreme and Pret.
TV chef Simon Rimmer revealed on last night’s Channel 4’s Tricks Of The Restaurant Trade that all shoppers need to do is register to each individual app and you can seal the deal.

Fast-food chain KFC offers its loyal fans free chicken if they sign up to a loyalty reward scheme
Customers can sign up to KFC’s Colonel Chicken Club, where they will receive stamps on every purchase above £3.
If you scan your card or app when placing your order you can even get two stamps for every purchase over £15 – this means free food and drinks on your third, seventh and eleventh chicken stamp.
When you register, KFC gives you three stamps just for signing up on the app which equals enough for two hot wings – for free.
Fans of Krispy Kreme can secure themselves a free glazed doughnut just by registering for their mailing list.
In the Channel 4 programme, Simon entered his details and hailed a cab to his nearest store and had a barcode scanned to claim his.
Krispy Kreme also offers regular rewards for loyal customers including birthday treats
ALL BAR ONE
All Bar One has around 50 chains in the UK and now whenever you’re feeling thirsty you can pop in and bag yourself a free drink.
Sign up to the app and they will give you a £5 voucher, which you can redeem against a drink of the same price in store.
You have to simply flash a winning smile and be friendly towards employees to be in with a chance of securing a free item – but it’s not guaranteed
Pret doesn’t specifically offer anything immediately free – you have to have nine stamps on your loyalty card before you can claim back a drink.
But it’s well known that their employees have an allowance to give away free food and drink, but it’s completely at random and down to them.
They have a rough budget of £5 a day to dole out free items so that winning smile could go a long way.
