Hendrix Grayson’s (Benny Turland) world was turned upside down in Neighbours, as he was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis.
The soap mainstay has developed a serious cough in recent weeks, which he thought was nothing more than a symptom of a cold.
The cough, however, has persisted, and Thursday’s (May 5) edition of the Channel 5 soap saw things take quite the turn, as another coughing fit left him struggling to breathe.
Mackenzie Harvgreaves (Georgie Stone) was particularly concerned about her beau, and thus she took him to the hospital.
Hendrix did his best to reassure Mackenzie that it was nothing to worry about, but it was clear that he was more worried himself than he was letting on.
He later received a call, informing him that his test results were back in, and thus he headed straight for the hospital, eager to find out what he was facing.
It was here that the doctor informed him that he’s got sarcoidosis, which is usually easily treated.
The sarcoidosis, however, has developed into pulmonary fibrosis, which is a lung disease that occurs when the lung tissue is damaged.
Hendrix was taken aback by the diagnosis, and subsequently asked the doctor what the treatment is.
The doctor, however, informed him that there is no treatment for the condition, telling him that his only option was a lung transplant.
Will Hendrix be able to come to terms with this information?
Neighbours continues Friday May 6 at 1:15pm and 6pm on Channel 5.
