Inside Martine McCutcheon’s marriage to Jack McManus as they celebrate anniversary of their first meeting

Marking 14 years since they day they met, Martine McCutcheon paid tribute to her husband and "best friend" – 36-year-old musician and producer, Jack McManus, who she married in 2012.

Martine, 44, calls Jack her "partner in crime" and the pair are parents to five year old Rafferty.

Their relationship hasn’t always been such plain sailing, and like all couples they have faced their fair share of obstacles to get to where they are today.

In the post shared on Instagram, the mum of one gushed: "We instantly knew we would be in each others lives & my goodness, the last 14 years have been eventful!

"We have weathered many storms but I know you were sent to me to get me through them and vice Versa. We are now so blessed, grateful and happy and you never, ever, gave up on anything."

"Your quiet strength and resilience astounds me. I’m so proud to call you my husband."

The couple married at Lake Como in Italy in 2012, five years after they started dating.

Martine describes the early days of their romance as: "We laid eyes on each other and that was it."

However, following the wedding, Martine was diagnosed with ME which she says almost ended their relationship.

Speaking in 2016, she said: “When we got married everything went wrong for us… Brush yourself down, this is going to end.”

"It was falling pregnant with Rafferty that eased the symptoms of the condition which causes severe and debilitating fatigue."

She said: “It was like a reset. I still had to manage it. I can live a normal life now. I can commit to things. Most of all I'm healthy for my son. My marriage is good again.”

Sadly, the path to parenthood wasn't straightforward and Martine has spoken in the past about suffering miscarriages and taking longer than she expected to become a Mum age 39.

Welling up on Loose Women in 2017, Martine said: “I didn't have a problem getting pregnant, I had a problem keeping them. I lost babies."

In the same interview, the then 40-year-old said that she felt that she'd missed out on time with her son by having him at the age she did.

Following the birth of their son, the actress admitted that her relationship with Jack had it’s turbulent patches which she was helped through with help from friends.

Speaking on Loose Women again, Martine said: “I think actually my friends have saved my relationship a couple of times! There have been times without a doubt – I've been with Jack ten years now and of course we've had or ups and downs – a tough eight years out of ten bless him,

“But through the trials and tribulations, I think my friends – when I feel I can't get through to him – have made me see sense. They've been like "calm down, you really love him, you two are meant to be together, stick at it". Nowadays more than ever people just chuck in the towel – everything's so disposable now.”

Currently the couple seem stronger than ever, confirmed with Martine’s loving birthday message to her husband who she says "inspires her more than anyone" and is "riddled with talent".

Singer songwriter Jack is also a performer and has toured with huge acts like John Mayer, Scouting for Girls, Amy MacDonald, and Sam Sparro.

Most recently, the pair had viewers in stitches with their appearance in the 2020 series of Celebrity Gogglebox.

The pair live in London, with Rafferty and their two dogs, Freddie, named after her favourite performer Freddie Mercury, and Harry, after Prince Harry because of the colour of his coat.
