Jeff Bridges reveals lymphoma diagnosis
Jeff Bridges has revealed that he’s battling lymphoma.
The iconic actor, 70, made the announcement on Twitter Monday night, writing, “As the Dude would say … New s–t has come to light.”
“I have been diagnosed with Lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good. I’m starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery.”
“I’m profoundly grateful for the love and support from my family and friends,” Bridges continued. “Thank you for your prayers and well wishes. And, while I have you, please remember to go vote. Because we are all in this together.”
Several celebrities chimed in to offer Bridges messages of support, like George Takei, who wrote, “You’re a fighter. You can beat this.” “Sending you and your family love and healing,” Patricia Arquette added.
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma made up just over four percent of all new cancer cases in 2020, according to the National Cancer Institute, which adds that the disease has a 5-year relative survival rate of nearly 73 percent.
