Kevin Maguire: Johnson fans flames of hatred as voters’ hopes burn

Tories will regret firebombing Britain, with Boris Johnson’s incendiary threats the incitement of a dangerous demagogue.

The Donald Trump mini-me, who menaces principled MPs, demanding they surrender to him or risk dying in a ditch, shames the office of Prime Minister which he taints.

He’s signed a pact with the devil in Dominic Cummings, the Tory Trotskyist who headed the 2016 referendum lie machine.

Cummings is pulling the strings – a reckless puppeteer manipulating a Puppet Minister in Downing Street.

Labour calling No10’s election bluff plus the Supreme Court humiliation has wrecked the strategy, though – which is why the PM’s desperate.

Yet my beef with Johnson’s Surrender Bill rhetoric is capitulation by the serial liar who never believed in leaving Europe until he thought it would be good for his career.

Betrayal is the sacrifice of the jobs, livelihoods and hopes of millions of conned and deceived Britons in pursuit of the Brexit elite’s nationalist deception.

Treachery is that same Brexit elite pretending it’s ideological obsession will benefit the many, when this gang of right-wing marauders inflicted austerity on the masses and divides to conquer working people.

Johnson greeted me with a friendly handshake before his grilling yesterday on Andrew Marr’s show, but his shrill bullying is poisonous.

Stirring up hatred to intimidate people who disagree with him is unforgivable and grotesque.

Johnson knows what he’s really doing – feigning hurt when challenged is part of the act of a tinpot tyrant who is no innocent Anne of Green Gables.

The PM crossed a line he’ll never skip back over in crassly dismissing Dewsbury MP Paula Sherriff’s fears as “humbug”, then callously co-opting assassinated European champion Jo Cox for his Brexit mayhem.

Taking back control for Johnson and the Tory zealots meeting in Manchester this week is the creation of a nastier, poorer, fractured, unsafe and violent country.
