The Lidl Plus app is a loyalty scheme which lets customers save while they shop. These are the latest updates which have been made to the platform.

The app was first launched last year and aims to give discounts to Lidl shoppers.

Those visiting can simply download it to their phone and scan it whenever shopping.

This gives customers tailored discounts as well as access to general weekly deals.

Now it has introduced a feature which will help customers before they get to the stores.

The “best time to shop” feature is found at the top of the homepage when the app is opened.

It details the quietest time for customers to shop based on how many customers are currently in stores.

This is displayed as a bar chart at the top of the page and could allow customers to plan their visits at a time when queues are unlikely.

Those using the app are also able to win prizes of up to £20.

When the app first launched, customers were presented with a scratchcard every time they shopped.

Prizes included a mix of cash and coupons to spend in stores.

This year, an update means shoppers can play via a ‘spin the wheel’ feature instead of a scratch card.

While the same prizes on offer are the same, some shoppers have now claimed it seems more difficult to win the top ones.

Taking to social media, some suggested the prizes they have recently won are not as good.

One wrote: “I’m sorry but @LidlGB changing their on app scratchcard to a spinning wheel has genuinely ruined my week.”

A second shopper said: “I enjoyed winning money off my shopping as every bit counts, but the switch to money off items has completely changed things.

“The scheme is not the same and the savings aren’t as great.”

“I miss the scratchcard. Much more fun than the spinning wheel winning stuff I don’t want,” a third added.

One more agreed, and said: “Bring back the scratch card, I used to actually win with it sometimes.”

Another posted: “@LidlGB really disappointed with the new ‘spin to Win’. Please bring back the Lidl+ scratchcard.

“The money off a shop made me do an extra trip to Lidl to spend my winnings.

“The meagre discounts now very occasionally won on spin the wheel has been on nothing I buy – disappointed.”

While some shoppers said the wheel seems different, a statement from Lidl confirms the chance to win is the same, with prizes up to £20.

It said: “When the Spin of Surprises was launched on February 4, it was communicated to customers with a marketing campaign, including in-store point of sale and website, and we also let Lidl Plus customers know in the app through banners and via email. Our T&Cs were also updated.”
