The arrival of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first baby is very soon and fans of the Royals are clamoring for any information they can get. There’s not a lot of solid information out there, just plenty of rumors, so let’s chase the latest one: Meghan Markle’s maternity leave plan.
When is Meghan Markle due?
Markle’s due date has remained a huge mystery, with only hints, such as “spring” or April/May, thrown about. The most recent buzz is that she’s going to have the baby “any day now.”
Markle’s absence from the Easter Sunday church service, which Prince Harry attended solo, had many fans believing she had either already given birth or was home resting for the baby’s arrival.
The official statement about Baby Sussex addressed the couple’s privacy
Anyone in search of clues is hard pressed to get much of
anything to go on and a statement released from Buckingham Palace recently is a
reminder that Prince Harry and Markle aren’t over-sharing right now.
The statement explained:
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby. Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”

Meghan Markle rumored to take three months maternity leave
According to a new report, Markle is planning to take three months of maternity leave, but also might return to making appearances before the three months are up.
A royal source explained: “Meghan has made it very clear she
wants to return to work as soon as possible. She has huge amounts of energy, is
extremely determined and wants to be as hands-on as possible with her
charities.
The insider continued: “Nothing has been written into her
diary just yet, as she wants to wait and see how she feels after having the
baby. She’s penciled in three months, but she’ll most likely return to public
life in six weeks — on the Queen’s official birthday, Trooping the Colour, in
June.
“Three months’ maternity is standard in the US for American mums — they don’t normally get the six or even 12 months women get here in the UK,” the source noted, adding, “So this is totally normal for Meghan.”

Does Markle have any post-baby engagements on her calendar?
In March, however, it was reported that Markle had a first post-baby appearance planned, with a palace insider telling Vanity Fair that Markle wanted to attend the annual summit for One Young World, “a global forum supporting 10,000 young leaders from around the world,” in London in October.
The source shared: “Harry is keen to support Meghan in
developing her own role and the opportunity to partner with a cause so close to
her heart is an ideal stepping stone. All being well with the baby, the timing
is perfect for her to expand her Commonwealth work through this new One Young
World partnership with the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.”
