  • The Duchess of Sussex changed her make-up look for day and night events
  • Celebrity make-up artists Lisa Little and Karin Darnell reveal what she wore
  • Meghan’s look in the day was a soft glowy look, with pink lipstick and soft eyes
  • In the evening she wore a smoky eye, layered contouring and dark berry lips

Meghan Markle looked glamorous at both her public outings yesterday, but for her evening look she ripped up her own rule book – sporting red lipstick and dark bronzer in an unusually made-up departure from her typical natural look.

During the day Meghan visited an animal welfare charity in north London, opting for a soft, glowing look on her skin thanks to luminous foundation and a light pink lipstick.

In the evening the Duchess of Sussex, who is six months pregnant, wore a £3,400 floor-length dark blue dress by Roland Mouret and matched her make-up with her dress.

She’s previously spoken about how she doesn’t like to wear heavy foundation and bronzer, and that she doesn’t like how red lipstick looks on her.

However, she opted for a smoky eye, a dark red berry lipstick and more contouring last night, as she attended the premiere of Cirque du Soleil’s Totem in London with husband Prince Harry.

Here celebrity make-up artists Lisa Little and Karin Darnell revealed exclusively to Femail how she got both looks.

During her visit to the Mayhew animal shelter in London yesterday, Meghan opted for a natural look by keeping her foundation sheer, and wearing just a hint of cream blush and soft pink lipstick

The Duchess went for a much more glamorous look for her evening outing to the Royal Albert Hall, breaking her own rules by opting for red lips and wearing much heavier bronzer and highlighter than we’re used to seeing

DAYTIME LOOK

While Meghan visited the animal welfare charity in the day time and played with the puppies she was wearing a more subtle look than in the evening.

With her hair down she wore a soft pink lip believed to be Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution Lipstick in Very Victoria – which she wore in her engagement photos with Prince Harry.

‘Her look was soft and glowy, which was probably down to being 6 months pregnant,’ Lisa said.

But she believes Meghan boosted her glow with some of her favourite illuminating products.

‘She probably also used the Touche Éclat Illuminating Concealer under her eye and the Giorgio Armani Luminous silk foundation – as both give a good non-cakey coverage,’ Lisa said.

Lisa says that the Duchess also went with a cream blush in the day, keeping her eyebrows fluffy and using pencil eyeliner under her eyes to give a subtle enhancement.

EVENING LOOK

In the evening Meghan’s was much more dramatic, with darker hues and a more layered contouring look.

‘She had a deeper red lip with more demure, smoky eyes, which matched her ball gown, while her contouring had been stepped up a notch,’ Lisa said.

Make up artist Karin Darnell also noticed a shift in her look in the evening, saying: ‘It was noticeable that Meghan had slightly more contour than she would usually wear and this sculpted her cheekbones beautifully.’

Lisa said that she probably achieved this look with Hourglass Bronzer and also Becca highlighter, a pressed highlighter, which the Duchess is said to be a fan of. While she also used the Nars peachy powder blush.

Meghan also paired her look with a raspberry red lip and finished with a layer of gloss to tie the look together.

‘A glossy lip is not something we have seen Meghan wear a lot before, but it really suited her and complimented her subtle smokey eye stunningly,’ says Karin.

‘Gloss works really well with bronzed, dewy skin just like Meghan’s. To achieve this lip look I would recommend the Huda Beauty Demi Matte Cream Lipstick in Game Changer.’

The smoky eyes were her biggest change from her day look, which can be created by ‘layering light to dark colours over the eyelids’, Lisa says.

While she also wore her eyebrows fluffy again, but with a little brow pencil and according to Lisa, is looked as Meghan donned her favourite mascara, Dior’s Iconic  in black.
