This Man’s Mobile Phone Possibly Saved His Life By Protecting Him From An Arrow

Cell phones have been described as lifesavers before, but perhaps not so literally.

As an Australian man would find out, though, he would have probably been dead had it not been for his mobile device.

According to The Telegraph, the 43-year-old came under attack in rural South Wales and rather amazingly, his cell phone was able to stop an arrow from hitting him in the face.

According to local police, an attacker brandishing a bow and arrow confronted the man outside of his house. The victim of the attack raised his phone to take pictures or record the incident when an arrow sailed his way. The phone wasn’t able to serve as a collector of evidence but its owner certainly preferred that as it immediately turned into a shield that prevented the projectile from going through his face.

Police reported that the arrow pierced the phone and knocked it back into his face. He suffered a small cut to the chin but that would be about all the damage caused. Of course, he’s probably in need of a new phone, and it would be worth investing in an actual shield if there are arrow-toting people in the neighborhood.

The 39-year-old, who is familiar to the victim, has been charged with assault and property damage offenses. He is set to appear in court next month.

The incident occurred in the town of Nimbin, about 110 miles south of Brisbane. Nimbin has a bit of a poor reputation and is known as Australia’s marijuana capital. It has also referred to as “Naughty Nimbin” by some locals.

Under normal circumstances, it would be quite foolish to pull out a phone when someone carrying a bow and arrow has confronted you, but in this case, it turned out to be a lifesaver in a very literal sense.
