Toni Collette and Dave Galafassi had been separated for a “substantial period” of time before they announced their divorce on Wednesday.
The couple was forced to clarify the line of events after the drummer was photographed kissing another woman ahead of their breakup announcement, leading fans to think he cheated.
“After a substantial period of separation, it is with grace and gratitude that we announce we are divorcing,” the newly edited version of their joint Instagram statement, which previously omitted the first line, read.
“We’re united in our decision and part with continuing respect and care for each other. Our kids are of paramount importance to us and we will continue to thrive as a family, albeit a different shape.”
The pair called it quits after nearly 20 years of marriage.
