Twitter celebrates Dec. 1st, the beginning of the end of 2020
Oh, the pandemic outside’s been frightful. Political drama, not at all delightful. Toilet paper was running low. 2020’s gotta go, gotta go, gotta go!
Decking the halls of social media with bows of hilarious holly, cyberspace carolers are celebrating Dec. 1, the first day of the last month of this treacherous year, with “Happy #December1st” tweets that’ll make you “Ho ho ho” with laughter.
“#December1st Woohoo! Only one more month of this crappy year left!!!,” one Twitter user wrote. “It’s the first day of the last month of 2020. lol I am holding onto the fantasy that things will be magically solved at midnight at the end of this month. By a spell. The best spell ever,” another tweeter quipped.
Digital rejoicers looking forward to permanently quarantining the pains of 2020 in the dungeons of their memory banks are spreading good cheer and well wishes for 2021 to fellow survivors of this yearlong series of unfortunate events.
“This has been a completely crappy year that should be canceled from all our lives,” reads a tweet. “But today is the day to celebrate because it’s the first day of the last month of a year that has taken so much from us. Just 30 more days and then goodbye 2020.”
“As we enter the last month, I pray for happiness for each and everyone, and healing from the pain that [was] caused by 2020,” another do-gooder shared in a meme. “I hope something good [happens] in December that we will never forget.”
Other online saints repeated the sound of joy, sending positive vibes throughout the Twittersphere.
And whether you’re ready to celebrate the end of the year on Dec. 1 or waiting to set off fireworks and noisemakers on New Year’s Eve, it’s unanimous: Everyone is anxious to jingle all the way out of 2020!
