Woman wants to divorce husband after learning he has 47 kids from sperm donation

On your wedding day, you promise to love and cherish your partner until death do you part, through sickness and in health.

These vows say nothing about what happens when you find out your partner has fathered 47 children through sperm donation.

This is the discovery one woman has recently made and it's safe to say it's shaken her to the core.

The confused wife is now unsure whether to continue on with her marriage or leave her husband for fear his numerous children will one day enter into their lives.

She revealed all on Reddit's Am I The A**hole forum, asking fellow users for advice.

Her post read: "Would I be the a**hole for divorcing husband over his past sperm donation?

"Married for eight years, have one child together, when we started dating he was very clear that he had donated sperm in the past, I never asked him how much but just assumed it was just a couple of kids.

"Actually asked him last week and he tells me the fertility centers last updated him at 47 kids."

The unnamed woman says she never expected it to be so many.

She adds: "It's clearly my fault for not asking how many. At the time I literally said 'I didn't care' about his sperm donation and 'didn't want to know' so can't blame him for not telling me how many. I literally told him not to…. But 47!?! Christ!!!

"I can't stop thinking about all the problems this will cause when we're older.

"All the kids are legally entitled to his contact details when they turn 18."

Many people on Reddit agreed she would be an a**hole to break up her family for this reason.

One person said: "I don't understand how this affects your relationship at all."

Another commented: "Lmao. My husband helped out people to raise a family. Would I be the a**hole for leaving him for helping?"

A third stated: "You're the a**hole, you don’t need us to tell you this. You knew in advance, specifically asked not to know how many and have been married for years. What’s the real reason you want a divorce?"

However some people were a bit more sympathetic towards the woman.

A different user wrote: "You make a good point. I could see not liking the idea of 47 people potentially inserting themselves into my life. I think it would be wise for OP to look into any sort of precedence for this kind of thing. I'm sure there are other people who have gone through this sort of thing."

Someone else added: "Having 47 kids by donation really wouldn’t bother me. He didn’t have sex with them women and then ran off after a kid had been born. My issue would definitely be the contact at 18. That’s a lot of kids to want to join the family, I’ll admit it’s not something I would ever be interested in."
