  • CALUM CHAMBERS has warned Arsenal that they can’t keep counting on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to save them every week.

It was top scorer Aubameyang who once again conjured up the late winner after another defensive horror show from Unai Emery’s men.

And Chambers admits: “We know as a team that we can’t keep relying on Auba and that as a defensive unit we need to shut the door and be stronger at the back.

“Obviously it helps when you have a striker like Auba but we’re working every day in training on improving our defensive performance.

“We have our philosophy and the way we want to play but obviously it didn’t help on Sunday that we went down to ten men which meant that Villa were obviously going to have chances.

“So I think the result was all about spirit, digging in deep and doing anything we could to get the result.

  • ARSENAL, Manchester United and Chelsea have reportedly been told to splash out £90million if they want to land Bayer Leverkusen's hot-prospect Kai Havertz.

The 20-year-old midfielder netted 17 goals in the Bundesliga last term but has indicated that this could be his last season at the BayArena.

Havertz is contracted with Leverkusen until 2022, but the Daily Express believe that the Bundesliga club are ready to cash in.

But only if someone is willing to stump up an eye-watering £90million.

  • UNAI EMERY has jumped to the defence of Granit Xhaka after he was booed by fans during the win over Villa.

Speaking after the game, the Gunners boss said: “My opinion is we need our supporters and we need our supporters helping each player but our responsibility is to transmit our capacity, our spirit, our commitment and behaviour. And Xhaka is doing that.

“He played very well on Thursday and also last week in Watford he played with a good individual performance.

“Today I changed him because on Thursday he played 90 minutes and I prefer to use fresh players for today.”

  • NICOLAS PEPE is winning over Arsenal fans – and not just because of his first goal for the club.

The club's record signing produced a brilliant, fluffed no-look bicycle kick during the dramatic win over Aston Villa which supporters absolutely loved.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “Unreal vision there, shades of Lord Welbeck. Shame the team didn’t convert. In seriousness though, what a second goal that would have been. From a penalty to a banger bicycle kick.

Another said: “World class. You have to be intelligent to understand what Pepe does.”
