  • GARETH BALE could make a sensational return to Tottenham in January after reportedly speaking to Jose Mourinho.

Spanish publication El Desmarque claim Spurs are willing to offer wantaway Christian Eriksen and £25.7million to make the move happen.

Bale, 30, was thrilled when Mourinho was appointed Tottenham boss in November.

He said: “Having Mourinho there is an amazing statement from the club, I think he's a serial winner.

“Tottenham want to win trophies and I don't think there's a better partnership than Mourinho and Tottenham together to try and win some trophies.”

Bale almost left Real to play in the Chinese Super League this summer only for the transfer to be pulled at the last minute by Madrid chief Florentino Perez.

Now, any move to China looks off after the league introduced a £2million-a-year salary cap for foreign players.

Instead, the Welshman could be set for a shock return to the club he cut his teeth at.

And reports claim Eriksen could move the other way as part of a deal.

  • JOSE MOURINHO has claimed he knows where Christian Eriksen's future lies.

Speaking after the 2-1 win against Brighton, he said: “About his future, I know his future. I think I know his future because his communication with me is completely open and honest and we trust each other.

“The only thing I can tell you is that I know his future, but I am not the one to speak about his future, it has to be him to speak about his future when he makes the decision to speak about it, not me.

“My feeling is that he wants to help us, which is why when I am in trouble and need a player with his qualities, I play him.

“Today he was important. Harry had a yellow card, we needed freshness, we needed vision and fast passing, and he was there for us.”

  • RANGERS boss Steven Gerrard has laughed off rumours linking the Scottish side with Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.

French news outlet L'Equipe stated that the Ibrox outfit had made contact with the World Cup winner, 33, over a potential January deal.

But Gerrard has insisted he is not in for the ex-Arsenal man.

He said: “We are getting linked with some good players.

“I don't know anything about it, to be honest. If someone knows something about it, give them my number.

“That's the first I've heard of it. He's a good player, though.”

  • ARSENAL could go back in for Adrien Rabiot when the transfer window reopens.

The Gunners have previously been interested in the controversial Frenchman, before he joined Juventus on a free transfer in the summer.

Rabiot – who endured a fractious ending to his Paris Saint-Germain career – is wanted on loan by Arsenal, having only started five matches this season, according to The Times.

But the Italian giants want to hold on the 24-year-old midfielder and instead, are keen to offload Emre Can, formerly of Liverpool.
