And his wife declared he's ready to take on anyone after stunning the boxing world.

Ruiz became the first ever Mexican world champ after the 25/1 shot knocked Anthony Joshua out in the seventh round.

It was the Brit's first defeat of his career as Ruiz's mum and wife cheered him on from the stands.

Catching up with his delighted family after the scrap, his mum told Fight Hub TV: "I know he's chubby and they think he didn't have a punch but he's strong and I knew he was going to do this.

"When he was little he said 'I want to be the champion of the world', the first Mexican and he did it.

"He was sure that he was going to win this fight.

Ruiz was a huge rank outsider heading into the bout and his glamorous wife told fans not to judge a boxer by his looks.

She said: "I'm so excited. I'm so proud of him now. He made history. He'll take anybody down – he'll take anybody.

"We are just proud of him and we thank god that everything came out in our favour."

Ruiz is so confident that he's ready to defend his belts that he fired the message to Eddie Hearn: "Who is next??"
