Angel Gomes to leave Man Utd tomorrow after 19-year-old fails to agree new deal amid Chelsea transfer interest – The Sun

ANGEL GOMES is on his was out of Manchester United after failing to agree a new contract.

The 19-year-old had been viewed as one of the brightest prospects to come out of the academy in recent years.

But the attacking midfielder has been restricted to just six first-team appearances this season so has refused to sign a deal and will be a free agent from July 1st.

Manager Ole Solskjaer said: “I've not heard from them last night or this morning, it seems like they haven't managed to agree.”

Solskjaer has placed his trust in youth having integrated the likes of Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams into the first team picture.

Clearly, however, Gomes does not see a way into the side.

It will be particularly disappointing for the club with Gomes having been with them since the age of six.

Gomes has represented England at every level from under 16 to under 20 and was captain of the under-17 World Cup winning side in 2016.

He was also the youngest winner of the United’s prestigious Jimmy Murphy youth player award in 2017, at the age of 15 years 362 days, after scoring 12 goals in 19 appearances for the under-18s.

London born Gomes’ father Gil was a Portuguese under-21 international.

He is also the godson of United legend Nani.

A video emerged of Gomes this month from 2016 of him being ‘healed’ of injury by Nigerian pastor T.B. Joshua at The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations in Lagos.

Since contract negotiations with United stalled, Chelsea were linked with a swoop for Gomes, with Frank Lampard keen to add the playmaker to his list of homegrown talent.
