Arsenal eye Mexican wonder kid likened to Messi and Hazard

Arsenal are keen on Ipswich wonder kid Marcelo Flores.

Mirror Football understands that the Mexican starlet has been targeted by the Gunners as Head of Recruitment Sven Mislintat continues to overhaul the club’s recruitment process.

The 15-year-old has been scouted by Liverpool, Chelsea and Barcelona before opting to joining the Tractor Boys.

Flores’ father is a former professional who played for Mexican side Atlante and is currently manager of the Cayman Islands women team, while his mother is Canadian. He has expressed a desire to play in the Premier League one day.

β€œOne of my ambitions is to play professionally in the Premier League," Flores told the East Anglian Daily Times. "But I would also like to play world-wide, in La Liga."

Flores could be in line to join the Gunners, but it is their rivals Chelsea who have his idol.

"Internationally, my favourite is [Lionel] Messi," Flores added. "Whilst in the Premier League, I like watching Hazard – I try to model my game on them both.”

Ipswich will also face a battle to hold on to another of their promising players, with Ben Knight a target for Manchester City.

A fee of around £1m has been floated for the striker as City look to hoover up the best young talent in the country.
