The 26-year-old could make his first appearance for the Gunners in 23 months when Unai Emery's men face their Portuguese opponents in the Europa League tomorrow.
Jenkinson – tied down at the Emirates until 2020 – last featured for the North London club 692 days ago in a 2-0 defeat against Southampton in the League Cup in November 2016.
He racked up nine games on loan at Birmingham last season, and was told he could leave Arsenal in the summer, but chose to stay and fight for his place.
The one-cap England international has been handed a place in the squad due to the minor injuries picked up by full-backs Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac.
Stephan Lichtsteiner could deputise at left-back once again, leaving Jenkinson and Hector Bellerin as the only options at right-back.
Greek international Sokratis could feature against Lisbon after being named in the squad despite missing the win against Leicester with an ankle injury.
But it was the news that Jenkinson travelled with the team that shocked supporters, with many in disbelief how he is still on the books of the club.
One supporter tweeted: "Carl Jenkinson is living his best life. Imagine getting paid to chill and train with the club you support. I'd do anything for his contract."
While another commented: "I forgot Carl Jenkinson was even still here."
One fan simply stated: "Is that the missing man Carl Jenkinson?? Jenkinson masterclass in Lisbon incoming."
Arsenal are looking to rack up their 11th consecutive win in all competitions, and go three points clear at the top of Group E.
