Arsenal next manager odds: Allegri favourite but price on Rodgers slashed with pressure building on Arteta after Burnley

Arsenal were booed off by the 2,000 fans inside the emirates while one fan covered his eyes with his mask to hide the view.

The Gunners are 15th after 12 games with just 13 points and have four defeats and a draw in their last five league games.

They are already 10 points behind Southampton in fourth place and 12 behind league leaders Tottenham.

Paddy Power have priced Allegri as the 23/10 favourite to take over but there also been a shortening of the price on next second favourite Brendan Rodgers, now 3/1 having previously been priced at 15/2.

Former boss Arsene Wenger is 40/1 meanwhile Mauricio Pochettino is 25/1, although is  as short as 16/1 with other bookies.

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “After their loss to Burnley, the atmosphere around the Emirates and Arteta is cold enough to warrant one of Wenger’s big puffer coats.

“Max Allegri leads our market to replace him, or Brendan Rodgers, but why would you swap relegation fodder for top four contenders…?”

Arteta was let down by Granit Xhaka, who was sent off in the second half for grabbing Ashley Westwood’s throat, before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored an own goal.

Asked where the result leaves his side, Arteta said:  "In a worse position.

"When you have this type of performance you have to win matches, you have to win as simple as that. It puts us in a difficult position and we have to try again on Wednesday.

"I am clear in my mind what needs to improve. I don't know how to put the ball into the net."
