Bob McNair honored before Houston Texans’ game vs. Tennessee Titans on Monday night

HOUSTON — Three days after losing Bob McNair to cancer, the Houston Texans honored their late owner ahead of their Monday Night Football matchup with the Tennessee Titans.

Houston donned helmet decals, lined its 25-yard lines with McNair’s initials (RCM) in the shape of a football on each end of the field, and aired a pregame video tribute while a cadet choir sang. Fans hoisted signs thanking McNair.

The 81-year-old, who had battled skin cancer for years, led the campaign to bring the Texans to Houston in 1999. The Texans launched as an expansion team in 2002. The city’s earlier franchise, the Houston Oilers, relocated to Nashville following the 1996 season and eventually became the Titans.
