Chelsea injury news: Is Christian Pulisic out of Man City clash and when will Antonio Rudiger return? – The Sun

CHELSEA have been among the surprise packages this season with the popular belief being they would struggle.

But, with Frank Lampard installed as coach – despite just a season of managerial experience under his belt – and the transfer ban limiting their business, the Blues are comfortably in the top four.

And they seem to improve as the season progresses through their young contingent.

They head to Manchester City on Saturday, looking for a sixth win in a row and to potentially put pressure on runaway leaders Liverpool – but will they survive their latest injury scare?

Will Christian Pulisic be available against Man City?

Questions were asked at the start of the season if Christian Pulisic was up to the task of playing in the Premier League.

The American youngster completed his move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, but had struggled for a place in Lampard's team.

That was until he hammered in a perfect hat-trick against Burnley at the end of October. He has since followed that up with goals in the two Premier League fixtures since.

But the 21-year-old is expected to miss Saturday's clash with a hip injury after having to withdraw from the US squad during the break.

Who else is injured for Chelsea?

Chelsea seem to have powered through this season so far, despite having some key players in the treatment room.

Among them is centre-back Antonio Rudiger, who has struggled with knee problems this season.

The German international looked to be close to returning but underwent surgery shortly before the break and will now be out until December at the earliest.

Ross Barkley is another that has been struggling with some niggles, having to sit out the Crystal Palace clash and England's qualifiers against Montenegro and Kosovo.

After having to withdraw from the recent international break, the ex-Everton starlet is expected to be sidelined again when they head to the Etihad Stadium.

Yet, Ruben Loftus-Cheek has had it the worst, having ruptured his Achilles' tendon in a friendly just before the Europa League final last season.

He has yet to recover with his return still seemingly some way off in what would have been a key season for the Blues youth product.

And he is joined in the treatment room by Marco van Ginkel who has been plagued by injuries for some time, with the latest his anterior cruciate ligament.

The Dutchman has been in the gym, but he is far from full fitness with no return date as yet.
