Chris Paul traded to Suns as Knicks miss out on star guard

Chris Paul is headed to the desert, not to the big city.

The Phoenix Suns were finalizing a deal Monday to acquire the 10-time All-Star point guard and Abdel Nader from Oklahoma City for Kelly Oubre, Ricky Rubio, Ty Jerome, Jalen Lecque and a 2022 first-round pick, according to ESPN.com.

The 35-year-old Paul averaged 17.6 points and 6.7 assists per game last season for the Thunder, which finished last season 44-28 before losing to the Houston Rockets in the first round of the playoffs. He will earn $41.36 million this season with a $44.2 million player option for 2021-22.

The Suns (34-39) missed the postseason in 2020, but led by shooting guard Devin Booker, they won all eight games they played in the Orlando bubble.

The Knicks also were considered a potential landing spot for Paul, but The Post’s Marc Berman tweeted on on Monday that Paul “seemed mixed on (coming to) New York.”
