Clement Lenglet signs for Barcelona in £31.6million transfer from Sevilla

Barcelona have paid the €35.9million (£31.6m) release clause for Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet.

The 23-year-old has penned a five-year deal making him a Barcelona until 2023, with a buyout clause of £265million (€300).

Lenglet joined Sevilla in January 2017 from Nancy in a deal worth £4m.

Barcelona have hailed the left-footed defender’s ability to create chances through set pieces.

During his time in Seville, Lenglet has made 52 appearances scoring three goals in the process.

Although yet to earn a senior cap for France, Lenglet has represented his country from Under-16 to Under-21.

At Barcelona, the Frenchman will have the chance to develop alongside the likes of Gerard Pique, Thomas Vermaelen and Samuel Umtiti.
