David De Gea agent Jorge Mendes at Man Utd to oversee new £350k-a-week contract… and could broker Bruno Fernandes transfer while in town – The Sun
DAVID DE GEA'S agent Jorge Mendes is in Manchester to oversee a new £350,000-a-week contract for the goalkeeper – and could broker a deal for Bruno Fernandes while in town.
Mendes is in England to put the finishing touches on a deal for the Spanish stopper after months of discussions.
And the super-agent could use the talks to discuss a deal for Sporting Lisbon star Fernandes, with Tottenham circling.
United and De Gea, 28, have agreed to a new five-year deal worth a whopping £91million.
The Old Trafford giants have been negotiating with the Spain international since January and there was recently a breakthrough in talks.
United increased their £300,000-a-week offer by £50,000 in a bid to keep their superstar stopper.
The offer will be for an initial four years, with the option on the club’s side to trigger a further year.
Mendes is in Manchester to oversee De Gea putting pen to paper on the contract.
That will come as a huge relief for fans, with De Gea on the brink of a move away for years now, but particularly this summer.
The Spaniard has just one year on his current contract with fears he could leave for a free next summer.
Meanwhile, United will hope Mendes' appearance in Manchester will put them in pole position to land long-term target Fernandes.
The Red Devils are understood to have been chasing the Portuguese star all summer, with the talks stalling of late.
But now, reports claim Sporting will reluctantly allow Fernandes to leave – if their £63million valuation is met.
Spurs threw a spanner in the works on Tuesday, as reports claimed they had taken the lead to land the 24-year-old playmaker.
