El Clasico: Sergi Roberto sent off for apparent 'punch' at Marcelo in first half at Nou Camp

The Spanish star was shown a red card in the closing minutes of the first half of Barcelona's clash with Real Madrid at the Nou Camp.



Roberto was involved in a nothing collision with Marcelo off the ball and hit out at the Brazilian defender.

The flailing arm hit Marcelo on his shoulder and Twitter users were quick to call it a punch.

One user wrote: "Sergi Roberto getting a red card for the wackest punch I’ve ever seen is pure comedy."

Another social media post read: "Why would Sergi Roberto punch though! Clear red!"


Another adamant tweet read: "Sergi Roberto did punch Marcelo. Pretty stupid"

Cristiano Ronaldo was also seen gesturing with a closed fist on television images.

Even with the La Liga title race over, there was plenty of bite and edge to the latest Clasico.
